Can you Fit a Canopy Bed into your Home

My best friend and neighbor, Daisy, is obsessed with the idea of buying herself a canopy bed. She’s been obsessed about it since she was a little girl. Apparently someone never got over the idea of being a little princess! Now there’s nothing wrong with this little flirtation with fantasy except the fact that her home just really isn’t big enough for a full sized canopy bed. My first piece of advice was to consult a respected canopy bed guide. I have a fair bit of experience when it comes to interior design and, over the years, I have noticed that this is one of the most common pitfalls that homeowners fall into. The desire to have a certain look or piece of furniture in their homes that is simply impractical.

This error occurs in lots of different situations but the outcome is always the same, here are a couple of examples. You go round to a friends house and fall in love with the enormous leather sofa in their living room. You go and buy something similar and get it home only to find it swamps your living room because it’s half the size of your friends place. Or perhaps you’re reading an interior design magazine and you are smitten by a modern minimalist apartment. You try to recreate the same thing but you only do it in one room and forget that this look only works if it is extended throughout the whole home.

My friend Daisy was actually considering a canopy bed set which is madness for such a small bedroom. I hope I have done enough to convince her that there are some really nice bed canopies out there that would let her recreate the same effect without the need for a full sized four poster. And I think that they can look much more unique and feminine. You have to work within the framework of what you already have or the results will not be what you expected.
